My name is Bridget O’Connell and I am an Information Specialist working in the Clinical Evidence Based Information Service (CEBIS) team at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW). We work closely with clinical teams to embed the use of research evidence into day-to-day practice, supporting evidence-based learning and improving patient care.

I’m an Australian who has lived in the UK for a couple of decades. I joined the CEBIS team in 2018 after a career break where I lived abroad (Australians and their itchy feet). Prior to that, I worked in information and knowledge services in the not-for-profit sector culminating in a decade as Head of Information at the mental health charity, Mind.

In 2023 I worked for six months in a seconded role as Project Manager for the Health Information for Patients Service (HIPS) at UHCW. This role was to run a scoping exercise that led to the development of a business case for the development of the service.

I have always been passionate about finding the best information to suit someone’s needs and was thrilled when I realised that I could make a career out of my obsession.
