Gillian is an Academic Librarian at the University of Northampton. She has experience working in further and higher education. At the University of Northampton Gillian supports students and staff on the health professional programmes to develop their information literacy practice. She is passionate about helping students and staff to navigate the evidence-base underpinning their professional practice. Gillian is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a chartered member of CILIP.

Her previous research looked at the effect of reading lists on students’ information literacy skills development, helping to inform her professional practice. Gillian is currently working on a research project funded by the AHRC-RLUK Professional Practice Fellowship Scheme for research and academic libraries. Her project is looking at the transition of international students to UK postgraduate education. Gillian is also working on a national research project with the Library and Information Research Group (LIRG) to look at Library, Information and Knowledge practitioners' experiences, skills, and confidence of taking part in research as part of professional practice.
